Another round of automated fixes to this, marking things that can be
made static as static. Saves some JIT cycles but also turns some lambdas
from capturing to non-capturing and makes the "utilityness" of some
classes visible.
The sysprops and envVars members of Command provide cli implementations
with information about the jvm process that is running. This is
convenient for runtime, but difficult for tests to mock because they
must subclass the cli class.
This commit adds a ProcessInfo record, and plumbs it through the
main and execute methods. The new record includes system properties,
environment variables and the working directory. By having this be a
single new parameter, additional information can be added in the future
without again needing to modify the method signatures.

Serveral mechanisms exist for intializing logging in cli tools. Some
base Command classes exist which initialize logging. But they do this
late, when they are constructed, which may be after static init has
occured for classes grabbing a Logger. Other CLIs like node tool
explicitly initialize logging to avoid that problem.
This commit removes all the of the LoggingAware classes, and
unifies logging configuration to occur at the very beginning of the cli
launcher.

The license tools exists separate from the normal cli tools since they
are not part of the Elasticsearch distribution. However, they still
utilize the Elasticsearch cli infrastructure. This commit adds a common
cli base script that calls the cli launcher and converts each of the
license tools to use it.

This is motivated by a number of recent SDHs that had these transport actions
queue up on the manangement pool. These were not the reason for the blockage on
the managment queue, but they are often sent at a high rate by Beats in the same
scenarios that see a high rate of stats requests from Beats.
Moving them off of the management pool at least makes sure that we don't get Beats
retrying them over and over on slowness and generally saves some resources by
avoiding ctx switches and having these requests live for longer than necessary.
There's no point in running this on the management pool. It should have
already been fast enough for SAME with the exception of reading the public key
from disk maybe. Made it so the public key is just a constant and doesn't have
to be read+deserialized over and over and also cached the verified property for
a `License` instance so it should never have to be computed in practice anyway.
Fix the split package org.elasticsearch.cli, between server and the cli library. Move the server org.elasticsearch.cli package to org.elasticsearch.common.cli. Removing split packages is a prerequisite to modularization.
Fix the split package org.elasticsearch.common.xcontent, between server and the x-content lib. Move the x-content lib exported package from org.elasticsearch.common.xcontent to org.elasticsearch.xcontent ( following the naming convention of similar libraries ). Removing split packages is a prerequisite to modularization.
Use of `${archiveVersion}` would produce zip files with the parent
directory incorrectly set, and contents like:
license-tools-task ':x-pack:license-tools:buildZip' property 'archiveVersion'/lib/elasticsearch-core-8.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
This replces archiveVersion with the project version instead.
When libs/core was created, several classes were moved from server's
o.e.common package, but they were not moved to a new package. Split
packages need to go away long term, so that Elasticsearch can even think
about modularization. This commit moves all the classes under o.e.common
in core to o.e.core.

As per the new licensing change for Elasticsearch and Kibana this commit
moves existing Apache 2.0 licensed source code to the new dual license
SSPL+Elastic license 2.0. In addition, existing x-pack code now uses
the new version 2.0 of the Elastic license. Full changes include:
- Updating LICENSE and NOTICE files throughout the code base, as well
as those packaged in our published artifacts
- Update IDE integration to now use the new license header on newly
created source files
- Remove references to the "OSS" distribution from our documentation
- Update build time verification checks to no longer allow Apache 2.0
license header in Elasticsearch source code
- Replace all existing Apache 2.0 license headers for non-xpack code
with updated header (vendored code with Apache 2.0 headers obviously
remains the same).
- Replace all Elastic license 1.0 headers with new 2.0 header in xpack.
Part 5.
We have an in-house rule to compare explicitly against `false` instead
of using the logical not operator (`!`). However, this hasn't
historically been enforced, meaning that there are many violations in
the source at present.
We now have a Checkstyle rule that can detect these cases, but before we
can turn it on, we need to fix the existing violations. This is being
done over a series of PRs, since there are a lot to fix.

This adds "enterprise" as an acceptable type for a license loaded
through the PUT _license API.
Internally an enterprise license is treated as having a "platinum"
operating mode.
The handling of License types was refactored to have a new explicit
"LicenseType" enum in addition to the existing "OperatingMode" enum.
This commit moves the aggregation and mapping code from joda time to
java time. This includes field mappers, root object mappers, aggregations with date
histograms, query builders and a lot of changes within tests.
The cut-over to java time is a requirement so that we can support nanoseconds
properly in a future field mapper.

This commit moves the MergedDateFormatter to a package private class and
reworks joda DateFormatter instances to use that instead of a single
DateTimeFormatter with multiple parsers. This will allow the java and
joda multi formats to share the same format parsing method in a
followup.
This commit creates JodaDateFormatter to replace
FormatDateTimeFormatter. It converts all uses of the old class
to DateFormatter to allow a future change to use JavaDateFormatter
when appropriate.
This commit makes FormatDateTimeFormatter and DateFormatter apis close
to each other, so that the former can be removed in favor of the latter.
This PR does not change the uses of FormatDateTimeFormatter yet, so that
that future change can be purely mechanical.
The changes introduced in cca1a2a mean that we should
not encrypt the public keys that might be generated by
the key-pair-generator when storing the file, as the code
that would consume them assumes that they are not encrypted
This commits creates a DateMathParser interface, which is already
implemented for both joda and java time. While currently the java time
DateMathParser is not used, this change will allow a followup which will
create a DateMathParser from a DateFormatter, so the caller does not
need to know the internals of the DateFormatter they have.
This reworks how we configure the `shadow` plugin in the build. The major
change is that we no longer bundle dependencies in the `compile` configuration,
instead we bundle dependencies in the new `bundle` configuration. This feels
more right because it is a little more "opt in" rather than "opt out" and the
name of the `bundle` configuration is a little more obvious.
As an neat side effect of this, the `runtimeElements` configuration used when
one project depends on another now contains exactly the dependencies needed
to run the project so you no longer need to reference projects that use the
shadow plugin like this:

You can instead use the much more normal:

testCompile "org.elasticsearch.client:elasticsearch-rest-high-level-client:${version}"

This bundles the x-pack:protocol project into the x-pack:plugin:core
project because we'd like folks to consider it an implementation detail
of our build rather than a separate artifact to be managed and depended
on. It is now bundled into both x-pack:plugin:core and
client:rest-high-level. To make this work I had to fix a few things.
Firstly, I had to make PluginBuildPlugin work with the shadow plugin.
In that case we have to bundle only the `shadow` dependencies and the
shadow jar.
Secondly, every reference to x-pack:plugin:core has to use the `shadow`
configuration. Without that the reference is missing all of the
un-shadowed dependencies. I tried to make it so that applying the shadow
plugin automatically redefines the `default` configuration to mirror the
`shadow` configuration which would allow us to use bare project references
to the x-pack:plugin:core project but I couldn't make it work. It'd *look*
like it works but then fail for transitive dependencies anyway. I think
it is still a good thing to do but I don't have the willpower to do it
now.
Finally, I had to fix an issue where Eclipse and IntelliJ didn't properly
reference shadowed transitive dependencies. Neither IDE supports shadowing
natively so they have to reference the shadowed projects. We fix this by
detecting `shadow` dependencies when in "Intellij mode" or "Eclipse mode"
and adding `runtime` dependencies to the same target. This convinces
IntelliJ and Eclipse to play nice.
Necessary changes so that the licensing functionality can be
used in a JVM in FIPS 140 approved mode.
* Uses adequate salt length in encryption
* Changes key derivation to PBKDF2WithHmacSHA512 from a custom
approach with SHA512 and manual key stretching
* Removes redundant manual padding
Other relevant changes:
* Uses the SAH512 hash instead of the encrypted key bytes as the
key fingerprint to be included in the license specification
* Removes the explicit verification check of the encryption key
as this is implicitly checked in signature verification.
