(#164904)\n\nhttps://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/97865
expands\r\nindex-pattern expressions to include a cluster alias for
purposes of\r\nexcluding an entire cluster from a cross-cluster search.
This allows\r\nusers to put the minus sign in front of the cluster
name\r\n(`-cluster_one:*`). The advantage to this change is that it
avoids\r\nsending any network calls to that cluster. Compare this to the
existing\r\nsyntax for excluding clusters, where the minus sign is in

send the request\r\nto the remote cluster, which if it is down (and

[EventLog] change to use Data stream lifecycle instead of ILM (#163210)
resolves https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/162886

The default continues to be 90 days for data detetention of event log
documents, and the rollover is now controlled by DLM, as described in
[Data stream lifecycle][].

[Data stream lifecycle]:
https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/8.9/data-stream-lifecycle.html

## Release note

Fixes the event log data stream to use Data stream lifecycle instead of
Index Lifecycle Management. If you had previously customized the Kibana
event log ILM policy, you should now update the lifecycle of the event
log data stream itself.

[Reporting] Remove PNG V1 (#162517)
## Summary

Closes https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/162293 and partially
addresses [154601](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/154601)

Removes the screenshot diagnostic tool but keeps the browser check
Removes PngV1ExportType from core and the export types registry

### Before
There were two steps so the EuiSteps component definitely made more
sense.

![Screenshot 2023-07-31 at 8 38 50
AM](f054f024-9148-4343-be45-9ddf175b8c71)

![Screenshot 2023-07-31 at 8 41 53
AM](71c6de8a-723c-462a-a7ad-51a4ca45f58f)

### After
I removed the use of the EuiSteps component since there's only the
browser check. Since the EuiSteps also showed some validation, I added a
callout to let users know the status of the diagnostic.

[DOCS] Trying to fix broken links, or removing them (#162844)
## Summary

Relates to #162551

Links returning 404 on [Elasticsearch service
page](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/elasticsearch-service.html)
in the Developer guide.

Replaced the link to the data plug in and one to the global search
plugin (though I'm not sure keeping the sentence and the link to the
global search plugin is useful - maybe we should just remove both
completely). Removed the link 'Elasticsearch service API docs'
altogether.

Adding endpoint to upload android map files (#161252)
## Summary

We need a way to decode Android crash's stacktraces so that they can
provide meaningful insights to our customers, this is because, due to
security reasons, android apps tend to obfuscate their code before
publishing it online, making crash reports contain obfuscated names,
which don't make any sense before mapping them to the actual source code
names.

In order to help our customers deobfuscate their stacktraces, we need to
allow them to provide us with an R8 map file, which is generated by the
code obfuscation tool (R8) at compile time. This map file is needed to
later do the deobfuscation process.

So these code changes take care of adding a new endpoint that our
customers can use to upload their map files, similarly to what's
currently available to [RUM
Sourcemaps](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/guide/current/source-map-how-to.html#source-map-rum-upload),
the Android map files will be uploaded to ES, using the same index as
the one currently used to store RUM Sourcemaps.

There's a couple of reasons why a new endpoint to upload android maps is
needed instead of re-using the existing RUM Sourcemaps one:
* The Sourcemaps upload endpoint has validations in place to check the
sourcemap format, which must be a JSON with some expected keys
available. Android map files don't have a JSON format, so they are
rejected by the sourcemaps endpoint.
* Android map files tend to be large in size, just as an example, the
map file generated for our [sample
app](https://github.com/elastic/opbeans-android) has a size of ~7 MB, so
for real apps this number can be larger, which would also cause issues
with the RUM upload endpoint since it has a max file limit size of 1 MB.
* The RUM upload endpoint contains a parameter (`bundle_filepath `) that
doesn't have an equivalent for the android map use case.

This PR depends on https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/161152

[DOCS]Adding ESS icon to xpack.security.session.сoncurrentSessions.maxSessi… (#162493)
`xpack.security.session.сoncurrentSessions.maxSessons` in Kibana docs.

## Summary

Adding the Elastic Cloud icon to
`xpack.security.session.сoncurrentSessions.maxSessons` security setting
on [docs
page](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/security-settings-kb.html).
Need to raise another PR from cloud repo to add security setting to
[cloud docs
page](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/cloud/current/ec-manage-kibana-settings.html#ec-kibana-config).

[Observability AI Assistant]: Move to new plugin, update design and use connectors (#162243)
This PR makes the following changes:

- Update look & feel of contextual insights (previously called prompts)
according to the new design that is being developed. Some things might
still change, but hopefully not too much.
- Move all the Observability AI Assistant (previously called CoPilot)
code into a separate plugin for better isolation, more specific code
ownership and to solve some circular dependency issues
- Use connectors instead of a kibana.yml setting

Note: for OpenAI, the model is currently hardcoded to `gpt-4` until
https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/162204 has been addressed.

[Ops] Bump Node.js to version 18 (#160289)
## Summary

Bumps node.js to 18.17.0 (replacement for PR #144012 which was later
reverted)

As a result, these categorical additions were needed:
- `node` evocations will need the `--openssl-legacy-provider` flag,
wherever it would use certain crypto functionalities
- tests required updating of the expected HTTPS Agent call arguments,
`noDelay` seems to be a default
 - `window.[NAME]` fields cannot be written directly
 - some stricter typechecks

This is using our in-house built node.js 18 versions through the URLs
the proxy-cache. (built with
https://github.com/elastic/kibana-custom-nodejs-builds/pull/4)

These urls are served from a bucket, where the RHEL7/Centos7 compatible
node distributables are. (see:
https://github.com/elastic/kibana-ci-proxy-cache/pull/7)

Further todos:
 - [x] check docs wording and consistency
 - [ ] update the dependency report
 - [x] explain custom builds in documentation
 - [x] node_sass prebuilts

Sort out objectization in variable substitution (#162382)
Closes #162381

## Summary

This PR is,,,

1. Adding documentation about objectization in variable substitution.
2. Fixing a glitch in the illegal double quotes `""`.
    <details open="true"><summary>details</summary>

For example, `""${ZERO}""` may have substituted `"0"` but this
substitution must not occur because no quotes surround the `${ZERO}` in
the context of JSON syntax. `""${ZERO}""` is jut `${ZERO}` with forward
and training `""`.</details>
3. Promoting triple quotes `"""` as an alternative to the illegal double
quotes `""`.
    <details open="true"><summary>details</summary>

Now `"""${ZERO}"""` is a way to substitute `"""0"""` rather than `0`
that `"${ZERO}"` may substitute. The same as before, these single and
triple quotes work only in the request body.</details>
