Redesign start/update model deployment dialog (#190243)\n\n##
Summary\r\n\r\n#### Notes for
reviewers\r\n\r\nhttps://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/113455 PR
has to be merged\r\nfirst to support `min_number_of_allocation: 0`. At
the moment it's not\r\npossible to start a `Low` vCPUs usage deployment
from the UI.\r\n\r\nResolves #189975\r\n\r\n- Updates the Start/Update
model deployment dialogue, replacing\r\nallocation and threading params
with use cases and advanced settings\r\nwith vCPUs/VCUs
controls.\r\n\r\nThe vCPUs (or VCUs for serverless env) are derived from
the number of\r\nallocations times threads per
allocation.\r\n\r\n_Optimised for ingest_ sets 1 thread per
allocation.\r\n_Optimised for search_ for low vCPUs level sets 2 threads
per\r\nallocation, and the maximum available number of threads for
medium and\r\nhigh. This value is limited to the
`max_single_ml_node_processors`.\r\n\r\nvCPUs control acts differently
depending on \"Adaptive resources\". \r\n\r\n- When On, it enables
`adaptive_allocations` and sets the range\r\n`min_number_of_allocations`
and `max_number_of_allocations` based on the\r\nuse-case (threads per
allocation) and cluster configuration.\r\n- For cloud deployments with
enabled ML autoscaling, vCPUs ranges are 1\r\n-2 for, 2-32, 33-max\r\n-
For on-prem deployments and cloud deployments with
disabled\r\nautoscaling, vCPUs ranges are based on the hardware
limitations. E.g.\r\nwith `total_ml_processors` = 32, and
`max_single_ml_node_processors` =\r\n16 ranges are 1-2, 3-16,
17-32.\r\n- When Off, it sets a static `number_of_allocations`. The
number of\r\nallocations is an upper bound of the ranges mentioned
above.\r\n\r\nFor serverless deployments adaptive resources are enabled
at all times,\r\nand control is hidden.\r\n\r\n<img width=\"795\"

default\r\nupon opening.\r\n\r\n- For the cloud deployments, also

[ML] Job service refactor (#191724)
Follow on from dependancy cache removal
https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/189729

Moving and removing as much as possible out of the `JobService` class.

- Moving the job cloning functions to a separate class as they do not
require the same dependancies as `JobService`
- Removing api basic wrapper functions like `saveNewJob`, `openJob`,
`forceStartDatafeeds` etc
- Removes toast dependency. This might be controversial, but I think it
is unnecessary for these basic job/datafeed loading functions to show a
toast if they fail. If we cannot load the basic list of jobs then there
is something else very wrong with the system. We also throw the errors,
so they will not be lost. It should be up to the calling function to
display a toast. Removing this dependency cleans up the code quite a
lot.
- The `JobCreator` classes no longer use `JobService`

[ML] Replace apiDoc annotations with routes definitions for OpenAPI spec generation (#190840)
## Summary

- Removes `apidoc-markdown` dependency and custom scripts for generating
internal documentation for ML Kibana endpoints
- Replaces apidoc annotations with `summary` and `description` props for
route handlers and kbn-schemas to generate an OpenAPI spec file
- `/internal/ml/jobs/delete_jobs` route was not versioned for some
reason, I changed that

#### How to test

1. Enable OAS endpoint in `kibana.dev.yml`

```yaml
server.oas.enabled: true
```
2. Start Kibana dev server
```bash
yarn start --no-base-path
```
3. Call the OAS endpoint for ML _internal_ routes
```bash
curl -s -u <USERNAME>:<PASSWORD> http://localhost:5601/api/oas\?pathStartsWith\=/internal/ml\&access\=internal -o ml_kibana_openapi.json
```

Migrate codebase to use Object.hasOwn instead of Object.hasOwnProperty (#186829)
## Summary

This PR has breadth, but not depth. This adds 3 new `eslint` rules. The
first two protect against the use of code generated from strings (`eval`
and friends), which will not work client-side due to our CSP, and is not
something we wish to support server-side. The last rule aims to prevent
a subtle class of bugs, and to defend against a subset of prototype
pollution exploits:

- `no-new-func` to be compliant with our CSP, and to prevent code
execution from strings server-side:
https://eslint.org/docs/latest/rules/no-new-func
- `no-implied-eval` to be compliant with our CSP, and to prevent code
execution from strings server-side:
https://eslint.org/docs/latest/rules/no-implied-eval. Note that this
function implies that it prevents no-new-func, but I don't see [test
cases](https://github.com/eslint/eslint/blob/main/tests/lib/rules/no-implied-eval.js)
covering this behavior, so I think we should play it safe and enable
both rules.
- `no-prototype-builtins` to prevent accessing shadowed properties:
https://eslint.org/docs/latest/rules/no-prototype-builtins

In order to be compliant with `no-prototype-builtins`, I've migrated all
usages and variants of `Object.hasOwnProperty` to use the newer
[`Object.hasOwn`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Object/hasOwn).

Replace 'model_id' with 'inference_id' for inference endpoints (#189545)
This PR resolves https://github.com/elastic/search-team/issues/7993

Recently, a backend https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/111366
was merged to elasticsearch which basically replaces 'model_id' with
'inference_id' in the GET inference api. This change was also backported
to v8.15. Due to this change, the frontend works related to
semantic_text UI and Inference Endpoints view are broken.

chore(NA): upgrade typescript into v5.1.6 (#186437)
This PR bumps the Typescript version used on Kibana into v5.1.6. The
full set of changes can be found
[here](https://devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/announcing-typescript-5-0/)
and
[here](https://devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/announcing-typescript-5-1/).

In order to make assumptions over the codebase and all the type of
errors I choose to mark the failures with `@ts-expect-error` and let
each team decide how to handle it.

There is a list below with the files (and teams those belong to) where
the annotations were added. If each team could provide help of fixing
the ones under their domain it would be fantastic. It can be done in
this PR or in subsequent ones.

Here it goes the list for follow up:

Upgrade prettier dependencies (#188032)
## Summary

- Upgrade `prettier` to `v2.8.x`.
- Upgrade related decencies.
- Adds `prettier` group to renovate config.
- Fixes bootstrapping type error.

## Main Changes

### Add parentheses for `TypeofTypeAnnotation` to improve readability

[link](https://github.com/prettier/prettier/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#add-parentheses-for-typeoftypeannotation-to-improve-readability-14458-by-fisker)

```ts
// Input
type A = (typeof node.children)[];
// Prettier 2.8.4
type A = typeof node.children[];
// Prettier 2.8.5
type A = (typeof node.children)[];
```

### Add parentheses to head of `ExpressionStatement` instead of the
whole statement

[link](https://github.com/prettier/prettier/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#add-parentheses-to-head-of-expressionstatement-instead-of-the-whole-statement-14077-by-fisker)

```ts
// Input
({}).toString.call(foo) === "[object Array]"
  ? foo.forEach(iterateArray)
  : iterateObject(foo);
// Prettier 2.8.1
({}.toString.call(foo) === "[object Array]"
  ? foo.forEach(iterateArray)
  : iterateObject(foo));
// Prettier 2.8.2
({}).toString.call(foo.forEach) === "[object Array]"
  ? foo.forEach(iterateArray)
  : iterateObject(foo);
```

## Details

This started because I noticed we were on `typescript@^5` but still on
an old prettier that complained about use of new TS features such as
[`satisfies`](https://www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook/release-notes/typescript-4-9.html#the-satisfies-operator).

Improve features plugin's contract type names (#187944)
## Summary

Fix https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/65999

Change the `features` plugin's contract type names to follow our naming
convensions and to avoid needing to rename them during imports

(and yeah, I'm triggering a review from 30 teams again for a type
rename, just for the fun of it)

[Semantic text] Make semantic text work with non-root level fields (#187154)
## Summary

This makes semantic text work with non-root level reference fields. It
also correctly adds copy_to to existing copy_to fields instead of
replacing them, and streamlines a lot of the code.

To test these changes:

- Create an index
- Go to the index mappings page at
`app/management/data/index_management/indices/index_details?{yourIndexName}=blah&tab=mappings`
- Add an object field with a text field inside
- Add a semantic text field referencing that text field
- If you're on a Macbook, create a new inference endpoint with the model
`.elser_model_2` instead of using the default inference endpoint.
- Add a second semantic text field referencing that text field
- Save your mappings
- Use JSON view to verify that the newly created text field contains a
`copy_to` field referencing both newly created semantic text fields
- Verify that the newly created semantic text fields are also in the
JSON view

[ML] AIOps: Refactors function argument structure for Log Rate Analysis. (#187669)
## Summary

Refactors the function argument structure of code used on Kibana server
for Log Rate Analysis from individual arguments to single objects that
contain all options. The options structure looks like this:

```
{
  // "meta" args like dependencies, general callbacks etc. on the outer most level
  esClient,
  abortSignal,
  ...
  // within "arguments" we pass in actual options that necessary for the logic of the function
  arguments: {
    start,
    end,
    query,
    fields,
    ...
  }
}
```

The main benefit is that code where these functions are used become
easier to read. Instead of the strict order of args that sometimes
included `undefined` or just a value where it's hard to guess for which
argument it's used for, this enforces to have the names of options show
up in the consuming code. Here's an example:

Before:

```
await fetchHistogramsForFields(
                client,
                requestBody.index,
                histogramQuery,
                [
                  {
                    fieldName: requestBody.timeFieldName,
                    type: KBN_FIELD_TYPES.DATE,
                    interval: overallTimeSeries.interval,
                    min: overallTimeSeries.stats[0],
                    max: overallTimeSeries.stats[1],
                  },
                ],
                -1,
                undefined,
                abortSignal,
                stateHandler.sampleProbability(),
                RANDOM_SAMPLER_SEED
              )
```

After:

```
                (await fetchHistogramsForFields({
                  esClient,
                  abortSignal,
                  arguments: {
                    indexPattern: requestBody.index,
                    query: histogramQuery,
                    fields: [
                      {
                        fieldName: requestBody.timeFieldName,
                        type: KBN_FIELD_TYPES.DATE,
                        interval: overallTimeSeries.interval,
                        min: overallTimeSeries.stats[0],
                        max: overallTimeSeries.stats[1],
                      },
                    ],
                    samplerShardSize: -1,
                    randomSamplerProbability: stateHandler.sampleProbability(),
                    randomSamplerSeed: RANDOM_SAMPLER_SEED,
                  },
                })) as [NumericChartData]
[ML] API test for ml_node_count (#187484)
We can't be sure of the node count when running tests, so we just make
sure the counts are above expected values.
Also updates the route access tags to be `access:ml:canGetMlInfo` rather
than `access:ml:canGetJobs` and `access:ml:canGetDatafeeds`.
In serverless, AD can be disabled and these tags would be false.
[Index Management/ML] Fix broken retries on inference id creation (#186961)
## Summary
This fixes the inference endpoint creation API being called multiple
times on error. The call will often time out because
downloading/deploying the model takes longer than the Kibana request
timeout limit. Setting the timeout limit higher would still be fragile,
so ignoring the timeout error makes more sense.
This PR also contains a few small language fixes and variable renames
for clarity.
[ML] Update code editors for Transform, Data Frame and Anomaly Detection wizards (#184518)
## Summary
Closes https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/66716
Improves code editors in Anomaly detection, Data frame analytics and
Transform wizards with autocomplete, data types validation and inline
documentation from elasticsearch specification.
Adds a package with JSON schemas extracted from the [openapi output of
elasticsearch-specification](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch-specification/tree/main/output/openapi).
Schema file is generated per editor/endpoint, keeping only relevant
components.
To test the script locally, execute
```
yarn run jsonSchema
```
from `/x-pack/packages/ml/json_schemas`.
By default it assumes that your `elasticsearch-specification` folder is
located next to the `kibana` repo, but you can also provide a path to
`openapi` file as a parameter, e.g. `yarn run jsonSchema
/Users/my_user/dev/elasticsearch-specification/output/openapi/elasticsearch-serverless-openapi.json`
#### How JSON files are served
JSON files are asynchronously imported at the React component level and
passed to the `CodeEditor` instances on mount.
Initially I tried different approaches to take advantage of CDN, but
unfortunately it didn't work out:
#####  Using static assets
I made an attempt to retrieve a URL to the JSON schema file as a static
asset using Kibana service
```typescript
const schemaJsonAsset = http?.staticAssets.getPluginAssetHref('my_schema.json') ?? '';
```
and passing it as part of the schema definition, but the browser was
blocking a request 🤔
![image](aa64ae66-8749-4d4d-b645-6cd11b221c68)
##### Using raw loader
Approach with a raw loader also didn't succeed.
```typescript
import mySchema from '!!raw-loader!./my_schema.json';
```
[OAS] Refactor description -> summary (#184651)
## Summary
Per [the OAS docs](https://swagger.io/specification/), they have an info
object with a `summary` and `description` field. This PR refactors the
existing router `description` field to to OAS `summary` (that is how it
has been used) and introduces a "new" `description` field that will be
used for the longer form descriptions.
For team other than the core team, please review your plugins code
changes by filtering files by codeowners.
### Test Snapshot updates
Most of the changes are refactors of renamed functions and changed ICU
syntax.
The main updates are snapshot changes where `FormattedMessage` is now
memoized so snapshots capturing the html tree needed to be updated to
use `<Memo(MemoizedFormattedMessage)` instead of `<FormattedMessage`
### ICU now supports HTML tags:
before:
```
<FormattedMessage
  defaultMessage="To buy a shoe, { link } and { cta }"
  values={{
    link: (
      <a class="external_link" target="_blank" href="https://www.shoe.com/">
        visit our website
      </a>
    ),
    cta: <strong class="important">eat a shoe</strong>,
  }}
/>
```
after:
```
<FormattedMessage
  defaultMessage="To buy a shoe, <a>visit our website</a> and <cta>eat a shoe</cta>"
  values={{
    a: msg => (
      <a class="external_link" target="_blank" href="https://www.shoe.com/">
        {msg}
      </a>
    ),
    cta: msg => <strong class="important">{msg}</strong>,
  }}
/>
```
### Escape character to prevent ICU parsing changed from double slashes
to single quotes:
before: `\\{escaped\\}`
after: `'{escaped}'`
### No need for Intl Shape
the new packages under formatJS are written in typescript and come with
types support out of the box so no need to set types when using i18n.
Renamed `InjectedIntlProps` with `WrappedComponentProps`.
Removed `prop-types` and `intlShape` in favor of `IntlShape`.
### FormattedRelative has been renamed to FormattedRelativeTime and its
API has changed significantly. See
[FormattedRelativeTime](https://formatjs.io/docs/react-intl/upgrade-guide-3x#formattedrelativetime)
for more details.
### All tags specified must have corresponding values and will throw
error if it's missing
All tags are now parsed and expected to be formatted properly (all
opened tags must be closed).
To skip this check you can use the `ignoreTag: true` property
```
i18n.translate('xpack.apm.agentConfig.captureJmxMetrics.description', {
      defaultMessage: 'This is not an HTML tag <JMX object name pattern>' +
      ignoreTag: true,
    }),
```
**When do I use ignore tags?**
If your message has HTML tags, it is preferred not to ignore the Tag to
have some string verification that the html tags you are adding are
properly formatted and closed.
If it the text between brackets is not an HTML tag and it is just a
fomat preference then using `ignoreTag` makes sense.
