Status: Not working
As of right now, this doesn't work well with Invidous. Please follow the issue https://github.com/iv-org/invidious-companion/issues/37
And there is an issue where Google detects the usage of logged account and shadow-ban the account.
Read the risks
This is forbidden by Google to use a Google account on third party services, so make sure you understand the risk. Your account could get banned. Do not use a personal account that you care about.
Use it as a last resort in case you can't rely on proxies or changing IP address to unblock the loading of the videos.
Use case
- Logging into a Google account will allow you to load YouTube videos on a blocked IP address.
- Depending on how your Google account has been configured, you will probably be able to load age restricted videos.
Instructions
If you enable oauth_enabled
in the local.toml (see 26cb520e15/config/config.example.toml (L56)
) for reference.
Then on the start of Invidious companion, you will get a URL for configuring the Google account.
Go to XXX in your browser and enter code XXXX to authenticate
Once you have done that then you will see a success message "Sign in successful".
