[tsvb] read only mode (#157920)
part of https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/154307

PR adds ability to put TSVB into read only mode - preventing TSVB
visualizations from being created and edited.

To test:
* start kibana with `yarn start --serverless=es`
* add `vis_type_timeseries.readOnly: true` to kibana.yml

Visualization public plugin changes:
* Removes `hideTypes` from VisualizationSetup contract. Used by Maps
plugin to set "hidden" to true for tile_map and region_map visualization
types. In 8.0, tile_map and region_map visualization type registration
moved into maps plugin so `hideTypes` no longer needed.
* Renamed vis type definition `hidden` to `disableCreate`.
* Added `disableEdit` to vis type definition.
* Hide edit link in dashboard panel options when `disableEdit` is true
* Does not display links and edit action in listing table when
`disableEdit` is true

Visualization server plugin changes:
* Add `readOnlyVisType` registry to set up contract
* Update visualization savedObject.management.getInAppUrl to return
undefined when vis type has been registered as readOnly.
* Prevents "readOnly "visualization types from being displayed in global
search results
* Prevents "readOnly "visualization types from having links in saved
object management listing table.

Timeseries server plugin changes:
* Add `readOnly` yaml configuration
* Expose `readOnly` yaml configuration to public
* When `readOnly` is true, call
VisualizationsServerSetup.registerReadOnlyVisType to mark vis type as
read only

Timeseries public plugin changes:
* Set disableCreate and disableEdit to true when `readOnly` is true

Cleanup spread operators in reduce calls (#157471)
## Summary

The spread operator is costly and put pressure on GC. It should be
avoided when possible, especially in loops.

This PR adapts a lot of `reduce` calls in the codebase to remove the
usages of the diabolic spread operator, when possible.

Note: the PR is not fully exhaustive. I focused on the server-side, as
we're more directly impacted than on browser-side code regarding
performances.

## Removing `...` usages in `kittens.reduce()`

For `reduce` loops, the spread operator can usually easily be replaced:

#### - setting a value on the accum object and returning it

#### BAD
```ts
  return this.toArray().reduce(
      (acc, renderer) => ({
        ...acc,
        [renderer.name]: renderer,
      }),
      {} as Record<string, ExpressionRenderer>
    );
```

#### GOOD
```ts
  return this.toArray().reduce((acc, renderer) => {
      acc[renderer.name] = renderer;
      return acc;
    }, {} as Record<string, ExpressionRenderer>);
```

#### - assigning values to the accum object and returning it

#### BAD
```ts
  const allAggs: Record<string, any> = fieldAggRequests.reduce(
      (aggs: Record<string, any>, fieldAggRequest: unknown | null) => {
        return fieldAggRequest ? { ...aggs, ...(fieldAggRequest as Record<string, any>) } : aggs;
      },
      {}
    );
```

#### GOOD
```ts
  const allAggs = fieldAggRequests.reduce<Record<string, any>>(
      (aggs: Record<string, any>, fieldAggRequest: unknown | null) => {
        if (fieldAggRequest) {
          Object.assign(aggs, fieldAggRequest);
        }
        return aggs;
      },
      {}
    );
```

#### - pushing items to the accum list and returning it

#### BAD
```ts
  const charsFound = charToArray.reduce(
    (acc, char) => (value.includes(char) ? [...acc, char] : acc),
    [] as string[]
  );
```

#### GOOD
```ts
  const charsFound = charToArray.reduce((acc, char) => {
    if (value.includes(char)) {
      acc.push(char);
    }
    return acc;
  }, [] as string[]);
```

## Questions

#### Are you sure all the changes in this are strictly better for
runtime performances?

Yes, yes I am.

#### How much better?

Likely not much.

#### Are you planning on analyzing the perf gain?

Nope.

#### So why did you do it?

I got tired of seeing badly used spread operators in my team's owned
code, and I had some extra time during on-week, so I spent a few hours
adapting the usages in all our runtime/production codebase.

#### Was it fun?

Take your best guess.

Split the .kibana saved objects index into multiple indices (#154888)
## Description

Fix https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/104081

This PR move some of the SO types from the `.kibana` index into the
following ones:
- `.kibana_alerting_cases`
- `.kibana_analytics`
- `.kibana_security_solution`
- `.kibana_ingest`

This split/reallocation will occur during the `8.8.0` Kibana upgrade
(*meaning: from any version older than `8.8.0` to any version greater or
equal to `8.8.0`*)

**This PR main changes are:**
- implement the changes required in the SO migration algorithm to
support this reallocation
- update the FTR tools (looking at you esArchiver) to support these new
indices
- update hardcoded references to `.kibana` and usage of the
`core.savedObjects.getKibanaIndex()` to use new APIs to target the
correct index/indices
- update FTR datasets, tests and utility accordingly

## To reviewers

**Overall estimated risk of regressions: low**

But, still, please take the time to review changes in your code. The
parts of the production code that were the most impacted are the
telemetry collectors, as most of them were performing direct requests
against the `.kibana` index, so we had to adapt them. Most other
contributor-owned changes are in FTR tests and datasets.

If you think a type is misplaced (either we missed some types that
should be moved to a specific index, or some types were moved and
shouldn't have been) please tell us, and we'll fix the reallocation
either in this PR or in a follow-up.

## .Kibana split

The following new indices are introduced by this PR, with the following
SO types being moved to it. (any SO type not listed here will be staying
in its current index)

Note: The complete **_type => index_** breakdown is available in [this

Tweaks to the reallocation can be done after the initial merge, as long
as it's done before the public release of 8.8

- `url` should get back to `.kibana` (see
[comment](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/154888#discussion_r1172317133))

## Release Note

For performance purposes, Kibana is now using more system indices to
store its internal data.

The following system indices will be created when upgrading to `8.8.0`:

- `.kibana_alerting_cases`
- `.kibana_analytics`
- `.kibana_security_solution`
- `.kibana_ingest`

[Canvas] Fix home page redirect loop (#154568)
## Summary

Closes #154566.

We have a redirect in place for BWC support for legacy URLs like
`http://localhost:5601/mkz/app/canvas#/workpad/workpad-e08b9bdb-ec14-4339-94c4-063bddfd610e/page/1?__fullScreen=true`
which uses the previous hash routing.

I noticed this home page redirect loop occurred when you navigate to
`app/canvas`. After doing some digging, I found that this loop would
occur when `route.location.pathname: "/"` and `route.location.hash:
"#/"`. It seems like having both properties defined would trigger the
infinite redirects. This change makes it so that the redirect occurs
only when `route.location.pathname` is undefined or contains an empty
string.

[Canvas] Fix createElement callback (#154398)
Closes https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/154389

## Summary

The `createElement` callback for the Canvas top nav bar is
[curried](https://javascript.info/currying-partials), like so:

201c80542c/x-pack/plugins/canvas/public/components/workpad_header/workpad_header.component.tsx (L133-L141)

In https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/151381, I accidentally added
**another layer** of currying by anonymizing the function with `() =>
createElement(...)` in the `onClick` which meant that, when the button
was clicked, the `createElement` function wasn't actually called - the
`onClick` would have to be changed to `() => createElement(...)()`
instead if we wanted to keep the anonymization.

However, it's cleaner if we simply don't add this extra layer; i.e. the
`onClick` gets `createElement(...)` directly, so that clicking on the
button actually calls the `createElement` function.

[Canvas] Fix image upload component not loading for image elements (#154385)
## Summary

Fixes a regression where the image upload component does not load for
Canvas image elements.

Starting with PR #145633 modules in
`@kbn/presentation-util-plugin/common` are no longer exported from the
`@kbn/presentation-util-plugin/public` module. The imports in the
`ImageUpload` module should have also been updated to the
`@kbn/presentation-util-plugin/common` module.

Upgraded EUI to v76.0.0 (#152506)
👋 Hi all - the biggest breaking change of this PR is around two icon
type changes/renames.

1. ⚠️ **The  `alert` icon is now named `warning`**
- <img width="103" alt=""
src="https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/549407/223561599-8913e88c-676f-47cd-aaed-81b64783bd81.png"
align="middle">
- This change should have been automatically converted on your behalf by
the EUI team, **but if for some reason** we missed making this
conversion in this PR and your icon(s) are now broken, please ping us or
let us know in this PR (or fix yourself after this PR merges).
- In some cases, teams were using this icon for error messages,
alongside the `danger` color. In those cases, we opinionatedly changed
those icon usages to the new `error` icon instead of using the old
alert/warning icon.

2. 🛑 **The `crossInACircleFilled` icon has been removed, and a new
`error` icon added**
- <img width="84" alt=""
src="https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/549407/223561892-4406bdf6-1a55-49ac-85ad-3a11eb7c090d.png"
align="middle">
- The conversion for this breaking change was not straightforward. This
was the path we used to determine what to change `crossInACircleFilled`
usages to:
- If the icon was associated with errors or error messages, we changed
it to the new `error` icon.
- If a "delete" action was associated with this icon, we changed it to
the `trash` icon instead.
- If a "clear" action was associated with this icon, we changed it to
just the `cross` icon, or in some cases `minusInCircleFilled` (if used
alongside `plusInCircleFilled`).
- Again, if we made a mistake during this conversion or missed your
plugin, please feel free to ping us.

[Saved Object Finder] Move to the component in saved_objects_finder plugin (#151764)
## Summary

This PR replaces the `SavedObjectsFinder` component from `saved_objects`
plugin with the one in `saved_objects_finder` plugin. Code changes are
pretty straightforward; most of the changes are around modifying the
functional tests to work with the selectors from the new component.

[Dashboard] [Canvas] Replace deprecated SolutionToolbar with Shared UX Toolbar (#151381)
Closes https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/147263

## Summary

This PR fixes the styling of the Dashboard and Canvas toolbars by
migrating from the Presentation Util `SolutionToolbar` over to the
Shared UX `Toolbar` component:

- **Dashboard:**

![ToolbarBeforeAfter](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/8698078/220703481-66429e79-fc85-43c2-9197-56f4aee12343.png)
- **Canvas:**

![CanvasToolbarBeforeAfter](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/8698078/220707385-47ad3c81-ffea-4ecc-8423-84656a99ce21.png)

However, in order to keep the styling the same, this also required
editing the Shared UX `Toolbar` (and its related components) in order to
support non-primary buttons. When initially migrating, **only** primary
buttons were supported for the `Toolbar` component - this resulted in a
Dashboard toolbar that looked like this, which goes against the EUI
guideline of only having a single primary button:

<p align="center">
<img width="500px"
src="https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/8698078/220704118-fc8515b7-dbb6-43ce-99a7-1db2f41c915a.png"/>
</p>

I did this by removing the old `PrimaryButton` component and replacing
it with the more generic `ToolbarButton` - as part of this, I migrated
both the `ToolbarPopover` and the `AddFromLibrary` buttons to use this
new component. I updated the related Storybooks to reflect the
capabilities I added to each component, such as making the
`ToolbarPopover` **conditionally** take the `iconType` prop and, if not
given, it will default to an `arrowDown` icon on the right side of the
button:

Since only Dashboard and Canvas used the Presentation Util
`SolutionToolbar`, now that these have been migrated, I removed all the
old deprecated components from Presentation Util as a final clean up.

Fix eslint rule for restricting certain lodash imports (#151023)

TL;DR: The `lodash.set` function is unsafe and shouldn't be called.

Cause of error: If you specify multiple `no-restricted-imports` paths

combine them into a single path as I've done in this PR.

[SavedObjectFinder] Remove savedObjects.find (#151220)
## Summary

This PR replaces deprecated client-side `savedObjects.find` method with
a server-side one and a corresponding API call. As a result, the
dependencies of the `SavedObjectFinder` component have changed slightly:
instead of `coreStart.savedObjects`, the component is now taking
`coreStart.http`.

If you have been tagged as a reviewer, it means your plugin is using
`SavedObjectFinder` somewhere. To test it, ensure it all works as
previously.

[Shared UX] Adoption of Shared UX Route component (#150357)
## Summary

This PR removes all imports of Route from react-router-dom and
'@kbn/kibana-react-plugin/public' and instead imports Route from
@kbn/shared-ux-router.

### Context
Based on
https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/132629#issue-1243243678 This PR
executes steps 2 - 4:

> 2. To make the transition easier, we want to re-export other
react-router-dom exports alongside the modified' Route'.
> 3. Solutions should start using that Route component in place of the
one from react-router-dom. I.e. replace all occurrences of import { ...
} from 'react-router-dom' with import { ... } from
'@kbn/shared-ux-router'.
> 4. All manual calls to useExecutionContext are not needed anymore and
should be removed.

### Future PR

Looks like this might be getting worked on in:
https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/145863 (thanks!)

> Introduce an ESlint rule that ensures that react-router-dom is not
used directly in Kibana and that imports go through the new
@kbn/shared-ux-router package.

This is tangentially accomplished through
https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/150340 but only addresses using
Route through @kbn/kibana-react-plugin/public'

Upgrade EUI to v75.0.0 (#150787)
## Summary

`eui@74.0.2`  `eui@75.0.0`

___

## [`75.0.0`](https://github.com/elastic/eui/tree/v75.0.0)

- `EuiFlyout`s now automatically shard all fixed `EuiHeader`s on the
page. This means that interactions (mouse & keyboard) with items inside
`EuiHeader`s when flyouts are open will no longer trigger focus fighting
([#6566](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6566))
- `EuiFlyout`s now read out detailed screen reader dialog instructions
and hints on open ([#6566](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6566))

**Bug fixes**

- Fixed `EuiSelectable` options with incorrect `aria-posinset` indices
when rendered with group labels not at the start of the array
([#6571](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6571))
- Fixed a bug with `EuiSearchBar` where filters with `multiSelect:
false` were not able to select a new option when an option was already
selected ([#6577](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6577))

**Breaking changes**

- Removed the ability to customize the `role` prop of `EuiFlyout`s.
`EuiFlyout`s should always be dialog roles for screen reader
consistency. ([#6566](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6566))
- Removed `closeButtonAriaLabel` prop from `EuiFlyout` - use
`closeButtonProps['aria-label']` instead
([#6566](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6566))

Upgrade EUI to v74.1.0 (#150235)
## Summary

`eui@74.0.1`  `eui@74.1.0`

___

## [`74.1.0`](https://github.com/elastic/eui/releases/tag/v74.1.0)

- Added new `EuiSkeletonText`, `EuiSkeletonTitle`, `EuiSkeletonCircle`,
and `EuiSkeletonRectangle` components
([#6502](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6502))
- Updated `EuiSuperSelect` screen reader instructions to be more
specific ([#6549](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6549))
- Added `error` and updated `alert` glyphs to `EuiIcon`
([#6550](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6550))
- All `EuiSkeleton` components now accept an `isLoading` flag and
`children`, which automatically handles conditionally rendering loading
skeletons vs. loaded content (`children`)
([#6562](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6562))
- All `EuiSkeleton` components now accept a `contentAriaLabel` prop,
which more meaningfully describes the loaded content to screen readers
([#6562](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6562))
- Updated `EuiPopover` screen reader instructions for mobile and click
behaviors ([#6567](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6567))

**Bug fixes**

- Fixed `EuiCard` to ensure `onClick` method only runs once when `title`
contains a React node
([#6551](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6551))

**Deprecations**

- Deprecated `EuiLoadingContent` - use `EuiSkeletonText` instead
([#6557](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6557))

[packages] migrate all plugins to packages (#148130)
Fixes https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/149344

This PR migrates all plugins to packages automatically. It does this
using `node scripts/lint_packages` to automatically migrate
`kibana.json` files to `kibana.jsonc` files. By doing this automatically
we can simplify many build and testing procedures to only support
packages, and not both "packages" and "synthetic packages" (basically
pointers to plugins).

The majority of changes are in operations related code, so we'll be
having operations review this before marking it ready for review. The
vast majority of the code owners are simply pinged because we deleted
all `kibana.json` files and replaced them with `kibana.jsonc` files, so
we plan on leaving the PR ready-for-review for about 24 hours before
merging (after feature freeze), assuming we don't have any blockers
(especially from @elastic/kibana-core since there are a few core
specific changes, though the majority were handled in #149370).

Upgrade EUI to v74.0.1 (#149457)
## Summary

`eui@73.0.0`  `eui@74.0.1`

---

## [`74.0.1`](https://github.com/elastic/eui/tree/v74.0.1)

**Bug fixes**

- Fixed `EuiModalHeaderTitle` type errors when passed `EuiTitle` props
([#6547](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6547))

## [`74.0.0`](https://github.com/elastic/eui/tree/v74.0.0)

- Added the `component` prop to `EuiModalHeaderTitle`, which allows
overriding the default `h1` tag
([#6530](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6530))
- Added the `titleProps` prop to `EuiConfirmModal`, which allows
overriding the default `h1` tag
([#6530](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6530))

**Bug fixes**

- Fixed slight row height jumping in `EuiBasicTable`s when actions with
tooltips became disabled
([#6538](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6538))

**Breaking changes**

- `EuiModalHeaderTitle` now **always** wraps its children in a `h1` tag
(previously attempted to conditionally detect whether its children were
raw strings or not). To change this tag type to, e.g. a more generic
`div`, use the new `component` prop.
([#6530](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6530))
- `EuiLink` now applies `rel="noreferrer"` to all domains, including
`elastic.co` ([#6535](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6535))
- `EuiBasicTable` no longer blocks mouse/keyboard interactions while
`loading` ([#6543](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6543))

**CSS-in-JS conversions**

- Converted `EuiBasicTable` to Emotion
([#6539](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6539))
- Added a new `RenderWithEuiTheme` render prop utility
([#6539](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6539))

chore(NA): upgrades uuid to v9.0.0 (#149135)
This PR upgrades uuid into its latest version `9.0.0`.
The previous default used version `v4` was kept where it was previously
used and places using `v1` or `v5` are still using it.

In this latest version they removed the deep import feature and as we
are not using tree shaking it increased our bundles by a significant
size. As such, I've moved this dependency into the `ui-shared-deps-npm`
bundle.

[build] Fix canvas shareable runtime (#149165)
The canvas shareable runtime build uses webpack 4, which needs the
`--legacy-openssl-provider` flag after the recent Node 16 -> 18 upgrade.

Context: the runtime build is disabled by default in pull requests
because it's currently untested and adds ~3 minutes to build time. It is
enabled in our nightly snapshots pipeline, which we've been using as a
slower feedback loop for build issues.

## Testing
```
node x-pack/plugins/canvas/scripts/shareable_runtime.js
```
should exit 0

[presUtils/fleet] stop importing test helpers in bundles (#148825)
This PR stops importing:
- `functionWrapper` and `fontStyle` test helpers in
`@kbn/presentation-util-plugin/common`
 - `createFleetAuthzMock` test helper in `@kbn/fleet-plugin/common`

These are instead imported from a `*/mocks` or `*/test_helpers` import
target and the related `eslint-disable` comments were removed.

While working through some changes to the package system I fixed a bug
in the source classifier which made these issues clear and made a fix
required. The changes have been broken out of my massive PR to make
review simpler.

Implement package linter (#148496)
This PR implements a linter like the TS Project linter, except for
packages in the repo. It does this by extracting the reusable bits from
the TS Project linter and reusing them for the project linter. The only
rule that exists for packages right now is that the "name" in the
package.json file matches the "id" in Kibana.jsonc. The goal is to use a
rule to migrate kibana.json files on the future.

Additionally, a new rule for validating the indentation of tsconfig.json
files was added.

Validating and fixing violations is what has triggered review by so many
teams, but we plan to treat those review requests as notifications of
the changes and not as blockers for merging.

Transpile packages on demand, validate all TS projects (#146212)
## Dearest Reviewers 👋

I've been working on this branch with @mistic and @tylersmalley and
we're really confident in these changes. Additionally, this changes code
in nearly every package in the repo so we don't plan to wait for reviews
to get in before merging this. If you'd like to have a concern
addressed, please feel free to leave a review, but assuming that nobody
raises a blocker in the next 24 hours we plan to merge this EOD pacific
tomorrow, 12/22.

We'll be paying close attention to any issues this causes after merging
and work on getting those fixed ASAP. 🚀

---

The operations team is not confident that we'll have the time to achieve
what we originally set out to accomplish by moving to Bazel with the
time and resources we have available. We have also bought ourselves some
headroom with improvements to babel-register, optimizer caching, and
typescript project structure.

In order to make sure we deliver packages as quickly as possible (many
teams really want them), with a usable and familiar developer
experience, this PR removes Bazel for building packages in favor of
using the same JIT transpilation we use for plugins.

Additionally, packages now use `kbn_references` (again, just copying the
dx from plugins to packages).

Because of the complex relationships between packages/plugins and in
order to prepare ourselves for automatic dependency detection tools we
plan to use in the future, this PR also introduces a "TS Project Linter"
which will validate that every tsconfig.json file meets a few
requirements:

1. the chain of base config files extended by each config includes
`tsconfig.base.json` and not `tsconfig.json`
1. the `include` config is used, and not `files`
2. the `exclude` config includes `target/**/*`
3. the `outDir` compiler option is specified as `target/types`
1. none of these compiler options are specified: `declaration`,
`declarationMap`, `emitDeclarationOnly`, `skipLibCheck`, `target`,
`paths`

4. all references to other packages/plugins use their pkg id, ie:

	```js
    // valid
    {
      "kbn_references": ["@kbn/core"]
    }
    // not valid
    {
      "kbn_references": [{ "path": "../../../src/core/tsconfig.json" }]
    }
    ```

5. only packages/plugins which are imported somewhere in the ts code are
listed in `kbn_references`

This linter is not only validating all of the tsconfig.json files, but
it also will fix these config files to deal with just about any
violation that can be produced. Just run `node scripts/ts_project_linter
--fix` locally to apply these fixes, or let CI take care of
automatically fixing things and pushing the changes to your PR.

> **Example:** [`64e93e5`
(#146212)](64e93e5806)
When I merged main into my PR it included a change which removed the
`@kbn/core-injected-metadata-browser` package. After resolving the
conflicts I missed a few tsconfig files which included references to the
now removed package. The TS Project Linter identified that these
references were removed from the code and pushed a change to the PR to
remove them from the tsconfig.json files.

## No bazel? Does that mean no packages??
Nope! We're still doing packages but we're pretty sure now that we won't
be using Bazel to accomplish the 'distributed caching' and 'change-based
tasks' portions of the packages project.

This PR actually makes packages much easier to work with and will be
followed up with the bundling benefits described by the original
packages RFC. Then we'll work on documentation and advocacy for using
packages for any and all new code.

We're pretty confident that implementing distributed caching and
change-based tasks will be necessary in the future, but because of
recent improvements in the repo we think we can live without them for
**at least** a year.

## Wait, there are still BUILD.bazel files in the repo
Yes, there are still three webpack bundles which are built by Bazel: the
`@kbn/ui-shared-deps-npm` DLL, `@kbn/ui-shared-deps-src` externals, and
the `@kbn/monaco` workers. These three webpack bundles are still created
during bootstrap and remotely cached using bazel. The next phase of this
project is to figure out how to get the package bundling features
described in the RFC with the current optimizer, and we expect these
bundles to go away then. Until then any package that is used in those
three bundles still needs to have a BUILD.bazel file so that they can be
referenced by the remaining webpack builds.

[Expressions] Replace React.lazy and withSuspense with async imports in expressions plugins (#147693)
Fixes #147648

## Summary

Replace React.lazy and withSuspense with async imports in expressions
plugins

The `withSuspense` method shows a loading state (`EuiLoadingSpinner`)
while React.lazy imports the component module. However, expression
renderers have a second loading state after the module is imported. This
causes a flash of two separate loading states . Unfortunately, this
caused a much larger problem with reporting where the report was
triggered before the second loading state was complete.

Using async imports rather than `React.lazy` ensures that components are
fully available before the expression renderers call their `done`
method.

Bumping EUI to 71.0.0 (#147142)
eui@70.4.0  eui@71.0.0

---

## [`71.0.0`](https://github.com/elastic/eui/tree/v71.0.0)

- Implemented new `EuiRange` and `EuiDualRange` designs where the
`levels` are now on top of the tracks
([#6092](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6092))
- Added `discuss` and `dotInCircle` glyphs to `EuiIcon`
([#6434](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6434))
- Added `article` glyph to `EuiIcon`
([#6437](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6437))
- Changed the `EuiProvider` usage warnings to not rely on development
mode. ([#6451](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6451))

**Breaking changes**

- `EuiDualRange` now explicitly requires both `min` and `max` via props
types, to match `EuiRange`
([#6092](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6092))
- `EuiRange` and `EuiDualRange`'s `compressed` size no longer impacts
track or level sizes, but continues to compress tick and input sizes.
([#6092](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6092))
- Removed all variables for the following components from EUI's theme
JSON files: ([#6443](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6443))
  - `euiCollapsibleNav*`
  - `euiColorPicker*`
  - `euiContextMenu*`
  - `euiControlBar*`
  - `euiDataGrid* `(except for z-indices and cell padding sizes)
  - `euiDatePicker*`
  - `euiSuperDatePicker*`
  - `euiDragAndDrop*`
  - `euiEuiEmptyPrompt*`
  - `euiFilePicker*`
  - `euiRange*`
  - `euiHeaderLinks*`
  - `euiKeyPad*`
  - `euiMarkdownEditor*`
  - `euiResizable*`
  - `euiSelectable*`
  - `euiSideNav*`
  - `euiStep*`
  - `euiSuggest*`
  - `euiTable*` (except for color variables)
  - `euiTooltip*`
- `euiButtonFontWeight`, `euiButtonDefaultTransparency`, and
`euiButtonMinWidth`
- If you were importing any of the above removed JSON variables, we
strongly recommend using generic color or sizing variables from
`useEuiTheme()` instead.
([#6443](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6443))

**CSS-in-JS conversions**

- Converted `EuiRange` and `EuiDualRange` to Emotion; Removed
`$euiRangeThumbRadius`
([#6092](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6092))
- Added a new `logicalStyles` utility that automatically converts all
non-logical properties in a `style` object to their corresponding
logical properties ([#6426](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6426))
- Added a new `logicalShorthandCSS` utility that automatically converts
`margin`, `padding`, and other 4-sided shorthands to their corresponding
logical properties ([#6429](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6429))
- Added a new `logicalBorderRadiusCSS` utility that automatically
converts `border-radius` to corresponding logical properties
([#6429](https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6429))

[Canvas] Adds functional test for esdocs datasource (#146942)
## Summary

Test for fix #14620.

This adds a functional test that creates a new data table element and
changes the datasource to `esdocs` via the sidebar. I'm testing with a
`logstash-*` data view with a missing `name` attribute to make sure
Canvas doesn't error out when editing the esdocs settings.

### Risk Matrix

Delete this section if it is not applicable to this PR.

Before closing this PR, invite QA, stakeholders, and other developers to
identify risks that should be tested prior to the change/feature
release.

When forming the risk matrix, consider some of the following examples
and how they may potentially impact the change:

| Risk | Probability | Severity | Mitigation/Notes |

|---------------------------|-------------|----------|-------------------------|
| Multiple Spaces&mdash;unexpected behavior in non-default Kibana Space.
| Low | High | Integration tests will verify that all features are still
supported in non-default Kibana Space and when user switches between
spaces. |
| Multiple nodes&mdash;Elasticsearch polling might have race conditions
when multiple Kibana nodes are polling for the same tasks. | High | Low
| Tasks are idempotent, so executing them multiple times will not result
in logical error, but will degrade performance. To test for this case we
add plenty of unit tests around this logic and document manual testing
procedure. |
| Code should gracefully handle cases when feature X or plugin Y are
disabled. | Medium | High | Unit tests will verify that any feature flag
or plugin combination still results in our service operational. |

examples](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/blob/main/RISK_MATRIX.mdx) |

[Step 1][ESQL] Syntax part (#146379)
Part of: #144296

## Summary

First step of `[ESQL] Improve the typing experience` (#144296). This PR
is the skeleton for later parts, but already supports basic parsing
scenarios.

## What was done:
- [x] Added new `ESQL` language in `@kbn/monaco` package. Parsing was
done using the `antl` syntax;
- [x] `kbnUiSharedDeps`-srcJs bundle has been optimised, all workers
have been moved into separate chunks. This gave almost minus` 2 MB` 🕺
- [x] existing `esql` lang was renamed to `sql`. In order not to confuse
anyone in the future
- [x] some code from `painless` folder was moved to `common` and reused
in ESQL (probably needs some refactoring in future)

## Next steps:
- [ ] improving `ANLT` syntax to cover all cases
- [ ]  implementing `Autocomplete` feature

## How to use new `ESQL Lang`:
To use new language 2 properties should be set for `CodeEditor`
component

```ts
import { ESQL_LANG_ID, ESQL_THEME_ID  } from '@kbn/monaco';
import { CodeEditor  } from '@kbn/kibana-react-plugin/public';
 <CodeEditor
      ...
      languageId={ESQL_LANG_ID}
      options={{
        ...
        theme: ESQL_THEME_ID,
      }}
 />
```

Currently syntax highlighting looks like:

[Canvas] Fixes broken data view sort (#146209)
## Summary

Closes #146171.

This sorting function for the data view options was assuming that `name`
was always defined, but with some legacy data views/index patterns,
`name` is not defined and only `title` is. This changes the sort
function to use `name` or `title` when sorting, so it doesn't error out
when `name` or `title` is missing. I also noticed that we were still
using the data plugin here instead of the data views plugin directly, so
I fixed that too.

[pkgs/peggy] automatically transform peggy files with babel-register and webpack (#145615)
In order to get us closer to the developer experience we want for
packages, we are trying to move package builds out of bazel and instead
we want to build files on demand. In the case of .peggy files this means
importing them directly and teaching babel/jest/webpack how to handle
these imports by automatically transpiling and caching the results.

This change does just that, adding a `@kbn/peggy` package which wraps
peggy for types, and also adds support for defining peggy config
adjacent to a peggy grammar file in a `${basename}.config.json` file.
This file will be parsed and used to configure things like
`allowedStartRules` as described in [the peggy
docs](https://peggyjs.org/documentation.html#generating-a-parser-javascript-api).

This PR also implements `@kbn/peggy-loader` which uses `@kbn/peggy` to
transpile peggy files in webpack, and a peggy transform for both Jest
and our custom babel register hook.

[Presentation] Remove uses of export * from in Presentation Util plugin (#145633)
Fixes #110893

## Summary
Replaces uses of `export *` with of explicit imports in
`public/index.ts` in Presentation Util plugin.

For reviewers:

This may look daunting as it touches many files across several plugins.
I recommend looking at the [change on this line
first](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/145633/files#diff-64c9d44d43fb458b5f18b066887586eee3868c6ab1ea7fcb82254d40a0fb53f4L34).
Prior to this PR this line exports modules from the `common/lib`
directory in the `public` module. This should not be necessary since
other plugins should be able to access these modules from
`@kbn/presentation-util-plugin/common` directly.

- Convert directly to EuiBadge instead of using CSS

- Remove confusing and now-possibly-irrelevant CSS badge overrides - left/right icons are now set via JSX and not via flex-direction

* Pre-emptively fix various euiOverlayMask CSS overrides

- this data attr isn't technically in yet but will be once https://github.com/elastic/eui/pull/6289 merges

- at the very least this isn't breaking any more than it currently already is!

* Update to v67.1.3

* v67.1.4

* Resolved test failing test case in Security/Manage/Blocklist. The test did not remove focus from the last combo box in the form, which didn't allow the disbaled attribute to be removed from the flyout submit button. I've updated the mock file for Blocklist to return focus to the first form element in the flyout to allow the disabled attribute to be removed.

* Updated snapshots to account for the recent EuiText Emotion conversion

* Fix Log's custom tooltips relying on EuiTooltip classNames that no longer exist

* Fix Vega vis custom tooltips relying on EuiTooltip classNames that no longer exist

- this one is trickier than Log's as it's not using React, so we need to use Emotion's Global to set a static className

* Convert remaining vega_vis.scss to Emotion

- as an example of how other global + non global styles could be handled in the future

* Fix references to removed `euiPaginationButton-isActive` className

- use aria-current attribute instead

* Added missing EuiFlyoutAnimation keyframes for EuiFlyout. This resolved test that failed because they used onAnimationEnd because the FlyoutAnimation could not be found.

* Reolved Jest Tests in suites 1 and 5. Updated snapshots to account for the recent EuiButton Emotion conversion. Updated snapshots for EuiToolTip as it now contains the new EuiToolTipAnchor component that replaced the tooltip anchor styles.

* iterate on rules_list.test.tsx

* bump eui to v67.1.5

* Updatde snapshots for jest test suites to account for the recent EuiButton, EuiOverlayMask, EuiTooltip, and EuiBadge Emotion conversions

* Resolved failing security test by updating the target element for CONNECTOR_TITLE. EuiCard has recently been converted to Emotion and the card title is no longer wrapper in a span.

* Resolved failing test case in Runtime Fields. The modify runtime field test was failing because the combobox responsbible for adding and updating scripts was not appearing. The textbox did not appear because the shared setFieldScript function targets and toggles the script textbox when opening the flyout. When a runtime field is being modified, the toggle is already active and using the shared function will trigger the toggle again (losing access to the script textbox).
Also resolved an issue that prevented the warning EuiCallout to appear when changing the type of a runtime field from its original type. Resolved this by adding an enter keypress at the end of setFieldType function to confirm the type selection, thus triggering the EuiCallout

* Resolved two tests that were failing in Lens. These test were failing because they were checking for equality in class names that no longer exist within EuiButtonGroup as it was recently converted to Emotion. These tests were updated to check for a substring of the new and longer class name

* Quick fix in test case failing because of misspelling in data-test-sub

* Updated snapshot for Jest test case as EuiButton as recently been converted to Emotion

* Removed console.log statement. Oops!

* Resolved a failing test case in Lens. They were failing because they were checking for equality in class names that no longer exist within EuiButtonGroup as it was recently converted to Emotion. These tests were updated to check for a substring of the new and longer class name.
Updated a Security test case by giving a target button the data-test-subj attribute for easier querying

* Removed reference to EuiFlyout mixin as it has been converted to Emotion. Updated the reference to an interal copy of EuiFlyout styles

* Corrected spelling error in EuiFlyout animation in Lens app

* Update EUI with latest backport

* Update button snapshots

* fix another button snapshot

* More snapshot fixes

* [EuiButton][Security] Fix button relying on now-removed `euiButton__text` CSS

- replace removed CSS with `eui-textTruncate` util instead

- combine/DRY out unnecessary span - was affecting min-width of truncation util

+ increase screenshot diff limit - this was smaller than updating the actual baseline screenshots for whatever reason (likely render diff between local and CI)

* Fix remaining Jest tests affected by Emotion conversions

- because Emotion creates its own wrapper, `.first()` can no longer be used - prefer `.last()` instead

* Fix Jest test affected by EuiButton Emotion conversion + removed modifier class

- targeting the native DOM node + filtering by disabled true/false gets us back to the 'correct' lengths

* Fix + improve flyout test

- `.last()` changes to account for EuiButton Emotion conversion is needed, but the last onClose assertion still fails due to us having modified inputs, and the confirm modal being displayed

- split test into two separate tests - one testing the onClose call, and the other testing the confirm modal

* derpin

* Skip rules_list Jest suite

* Update new EuiButton snapshot

* Upgraded EUI version to 67.1.7

* [EuiCard] Update snapshots

* [EuiPopover] Update snapshots

* [QA] Fix missing Vega warn/error message colors

;_;

* [CI] Auto-commit changed files from 'node scripts/generate codeowners'

* Fix Lens kbnToolbarButton regressions

- Caused by flattening of EUI button CSS specificity

- background-color was previously relying on isDisabled CSS specificity to override its #fff color

- `text` color modifier & `!important` is no longer needed and overrides Emotion CSS flatly

- isDisabled class is no longer needed - euiButton no longer sets `pointer-events: none` on disabled buttons (fixes tooltip bug in webkit as well)

* Backport EUI 67.1.8 fixes

* Update EuiCard snapshots

* Fix EuiModal form wrapper causing overflow issues

- see https://elastic.github.io/eui/#/layout/modal#forms-in-a-modal

* Workaround for `.kbnOverlayMountWrapper` mount point causing overflow issues

- not sure what all is using this modal service to be honest, but the wrapper is causing issues with the modal layout, this fixes overflow issues but will not fix any mask-image issues as a result

* more snapshot updates

* EuiButton - added textProps to EuiButton to prevent very long button names from spilling over outside of the container

* EuiButton - Update EuiButton related snapshots. Updated tests that target EuiButton directly to use a data-telementary-id for more specific element querying required by Emotion

* QA - Removed unnecessary comment in code

* Temporary fix for EuiCard[selectable][layout=horizontal] instances on security solutions' rule page

* Temporary fix for EuiCard[selectable][layout=horizontal] instances on osquery live query and canvas's datasource selector

* [CI] Auto-commit changed files from 'node scripts/precommit_hook.js --ref HEAD~1..HEAD --fix'

* Fix CSS specificity, where canvas's solutionToolbarButton's background-color now takes precedence over EuiButton's primary styles

* Removed update to search_marker_tooltip that removed the euiTooltip styles and replaced then with Emotion styling. Added EuiTooltip Sass styles for the component to rely on to test for a styling bug that is causing the tooltip and the tooltip arrow to be out of sync with each other.

* Lint Sass file

* Lint Sass file

* Removed overflow:hidden style from .vgaVis_view as it was causing euiScrollStyles not to present the scroll bars in Vega Vis

* Remove typo from EuiButton textProps object. 'className' should not have been included in the actual class name

* Revert tooltip Sass

This reverts commit 20e6ead571, a5cd2de901, and c605cbd7b9

* Fix Emotion tooltip arrows
